Map of shooting ranges in France
2,202 shooting ranges are plotted on this map, drawn from the French Ministry of Sport's survey crossed with the federations' own directories, 2,222 clubs in all. Search around an address or your own position, then filter on what actually decides: firing distances, indoor or outdoor bays, showers, toilets, lighting and wheelchair access.
Finding a shooting range near you
Proximity search runs on the French state's Address API: a town, a postcode or a full address is enough. The map then keeps only the clubs within the chosen radius, as the crow flies, nearest first.
- Type a town or postcode, then “Around here” — or “Around me” to start from your position.
- Pick the radius: 10, 20, 30, 50 or 100 km.
- Filter on what decides: firing distance, indoor bays, showers, wheelchair access.
- Open a club to see its firing points and declared facilities.
- The page address keeps your filters: share it as it stands.
What the shooting range map records
The map crosses two kinds of source. The French Ministry of Sport's survey of sports facilities (Data ES, Licence Ouverte 2.0) is granular per firing point: the 3,115 firing points published are grouped here by site. The shooting and ball-trap federations' directories add what a survey of facilities cannot hold — the names of the associations, restored to 251 clubs the survey named only by their facility. 2,222 clubs in all, of which 2,202 carry usable coordinates.
- Disciplines: target shooting, trap and clay target.
- Declared firing distances, from 10 to 300 m.
- Configuration: indoor bays, outdoor, or both.
- Facilities on site: showers, toilets, changing rooms, lighting.
- Wheelchair accessibility.
Neither source is exhaustive, and crossing them is what shows it. Dunes Shooting Club, in Tarn-et-Garonne, appears in none of its town's facilities on Data ES, yet sits in its federation's directory: 538 clubs are in that position and appear here on that basis alone. The converse exists too — an unaffiliated club whose town never declared its facilities would stay invisible on both sides.
Practices, however, are published as groups rather than single disciplines: “TSV and related” alone bundles speed shooting, crossbow, antique arms, bench rest and metallic silhouettes, with no way to tell which one a club practises. The chips concerned carry a ⊕, and that filter must not be read as exact. An affiliated club's card adds the disciplines it files with its federation, where those five are told apart.

What open data does not say about a range
The survey describes facilities, not associations. It carries no opening hours, no fees, no contact details, no gunsmith, no gun hire and nothing about openness to new members — all of which still have to be asked of the club. The shooting school is now an exception: crossing the federal directories flags it for the clubs that declare one.
A club whose field is not filled in stays visible by default: “unknown” is not “no”, and a filter that confused the two would drop clubs wrongly. The “Hide clubs with no information” box flips that choice when you want certainty.
